Awards evening 2014
Made possible with sponsorship from the BRE National Solar Centre, Ovo Communities and Cornish renewable energy installer Natural Generation, the awards also saw the judges announce the winners of the inaugural energyfund Cornwall competition.
Along with special guests, the awards were attended by the 23 shortlisted projects from non-profit making groups who had planned to use renewable energy to directly benefit their community.
At the ceremony the judges announced the 16 community groups from across Cornwall who would be awarded a share of £300,000 grant funding, with Roche Victory Hall & Social Club winning the biggest award on the night of £57,000.
“Community renewable energy is a top priority for this government so it’s inspiring to see the pioneering work you have achieved so far in Cornwall.”
Amber Rudd MP, Under Secretary of State at Department of Energy and Climate Change
“Cornwall Council is delighted to support an event like this. Each and every community group that takes control of energy is taking us one further step towards a new type of market that can replicate the benefits of local food production – made and consumed locally for local benefit”
Julian German, Councillor
