Bosavern Community Farm
Following the award of an Energyfund Cornwall grant, Bosavern Community Farm contacted installers to investigate where they could site a wind turbine and solar PV, organised for an EPC to be completed and applied for pre-accreditation of FiTs.
Realising that installing a micro wind turbine would not be economically viable just relying on the FITs income, being low users of electricity, and that it would not be worth the effort needed to overcome the significant challenge of getting planning permission, the wind turbine scheme was put on hold.
After final discussion about the site for the solar PV with their direct neighbours and BCE Management Board, Bosavern Community Farm submitted a planning application, which was objected to by the AONB Planning Officer and St Just Town Council on visual impact grounds.
With the Government’s announcement to reduce FiT rates, and a three-month waiting period for grid work to be completed, the group decided to submit a new planning application for a 4kW ground mounted system, which with the AONB Planning Officers support, should be granted.
